The competency-based approach constituted a pedagogical choice for the Moroccan educational system.
It was adopted with the launching of the National Charter for Education and Training as a societal reference.
This was emphasized in the Strategic Vision document (2015-2030) as competencies are integrated formats of knowledge, abilities and skills that allow the learner to make achievements that are compatible with the educational situations.
The Arabic language was not immune to this reform.
The competency-based approach was adopted in the construction of the Arabic language curriculum in high school.
A model of pedagogy that seeks to move from the transfer of complete knowledge and content to the training of the learner to build knowledge himself, and to enable him to use his resources in learning situations different from the context in which he acquired those resources.
This paper aims at addressing some of the issues related to the launching of the competencybased approach in the Moroccan educational curriculum and its practice in the classroom.
