Research into ways to develop or improve the performance quality of the professor in higher education should start from seeing the university professor as a teacher, student research supervisor, mentor and educator, researcher and thinker, and an active member serving the community.

Nonetheless, the research professor constitute only one link of a series of continuous and overlapping links in this comprehensive system.

The research professor is considered the most important link though.

Therefore, the level of educational performance of the research professor in higher education is the cornerstone in evaluating the quality of services provided by educational institutions.
