Abstract EN

Electric energy is of a great importance as being the engine for various activities in the society.

Human luxury depends on this energy.

It is one of the basic pillars upon which the movement of economical and social activities depend.

The study aims to find out the reality of electric energy production and consumption in Iraq to demonstrate the efficiency of the operating electric stations, the amount of the production and the development of its productive capacities to meet the growing demand for electric energy which is shown from the consumption of this energy in the area of the study, explain the deficit status in the production, the future prospects for its production and the role of the natural gas in solving this problem.

The most important conclusion the study arrives at is that the great deficit in providing the electric energy, the obsolescence of the operating electric stations and the shortage of their productive capacity cause a deficit in providing the electric energy up to (50-35)% for normal and peak load respectively.

The study also shows the possibility of using the natural gas found in large quantities in Iraq for electric energy production by using gaseous stations in the complex cycle because the natural gas is characterized by thermal and environmental characteristics.

Moreover, the gaseous stations in the complex cycle are characterized by having economical properties, speed in the accomplishment and a high productive efficiency.
