Media System in Algeria: A functional pluralism modelRecently, the study and classification of media systems around the world has become very popular.

This article has attempted to address the issue of the media system in Algeria by first defining the components of the media system in general, then giving a brief historical overview of its most important typoligies at the international and Arab levels, before setting out some criteria justifying the Algerian media system typology, to finally recognize the difficulty of its classification, and the multiplicity of its normative characteristics according to two main stages which it crossed (before and after the political pluralism period: 1962 -1989), and proposing that it can be qualified as a functional pluralism model.
