Abstract EN

The present study examines the impact of globalization, modernization, and secularization on the Allah Lexicon, the rich and varied body of religious expressions, which forms a unique feature of the Arabic language.

While Westernization brings considerable benefits, its encroachment, by means of mass media and popular culture, undermines existing socio-linguistic structures, diminishing the depth and breadth of the Allah Lexicon, and placing the stability of the system in peril.

Based on a review of the literature, as well as fieldwork conducted among Arabic-speakers at home and abroad, this study will consider the importance of the Allah Lexicon in terms of linguistic, cultural, and religious identity.

It will also examine the effects of globalization on the Lexicon, issues of cross-cultural transferability, and the consequences of subversive language policies, all of which compromise cultural and linguistic diversity
