This article presents a precise definition of Critical Discourse Analysis.

In this light, an account of its approaches and how they are implemented will be discussed, namely (the dialectical relational approach, the cognitive-social approach, and the historical approach.

) The paper aims at clarifying the nature of critical discourse analysis, its purposes, and implementation for researchers in the field.

By doing so, the article is to tackle the improper, and often ambiguous, understanding and application of critical discourse analysis in the Arab World.
