Abstract EN

After the world had become a single global unit, information became the main item in the management of modern life; there wouldn't be any place for those who lag behind informatics ;especially as information, like other goods , subjects economically to supply and demand .

And this not only at the level of microeconomic units but also to the economies of both developed and developing countries .

Thus, the knowledge economy is the economy that countries seek to be the prevailing economy .

The knowledge economy relies on information and communication technology as a tool and catalyst for innovation, but it is not the main factor of change; it's the tool that enables the human capital to develop , innovate and to be distinguished .

In the light of those successive changes ,we notice that the developing countries, especially Iraq ,face great challenges, primarily the knowledge economy .

Therefore, the nature of this economy and its importance and characteristics were addressed in the introduction of this research; then the focus was on the indicators of the knowledge economy from real situations in Iraqi.

Although some figures are not available as a result of a number of problems affecting our country, the results were positive, especially those related to the availability of qualified human capital to accelerate development in Iraq.
