This dissertation is for the object of studying the use of the mother tongue (Arabic language) in teaching the French language in M’Sila.
We diagnosed the situation of teaching foreign languages, especially the French through a questionnaire for the students of the University of M’Sila.
Besides the questionnaire, an initial test took a place (to check the basis of French language of the students), it was distributed to two groups of students that were chosen from the same university.
After we applied a program that contains the main basis of the French language, by using the mother language, we proposed a final test.
This experience highlighted the importance of the mother tongue in the classes of foreign languages in M’Sila.
We noticed that the mother tongue is a means of maintaining a communication sphere between the teacher and the student to transfer the know-how which participates in the construction of foreign languages skills.

cette recherche a pour objet d'étudier l'utilisation de la langue maternelle (arabe) pour enseigner le français à M'Sila en Algérie.
Nous y avons constaté la situation de l'enseignement des langues étrangères, notamment le français à travers un questionnaire destiné aux étudiants de l'université de Mohamed Boudiaf.
Un test initial (test de connaissance du français) a été distribué aux étudiants de deux groupes choisis dans la même université.
Et après avoir appliqué un programme contenant les notions de bases de la langue française en utilisant la langue maternelle (arabe), nous leur avons proposé un test final.
Cette expérience nous a montré l'importance de la langue maternelle dans la classe d'une langue étrangère à M'Sila.
Nous avons également constaté que la langue maternelle est un moyen de mettre un lien de communication entre l'enseignant et l'apprenant pour des transferts de savoir-faire qui participent à la construction de compétences en langue étrangère.
