Abstract EN

The present study aims at demonstrating the effect of Knowledge maps in the achievement of biology subject by scientific fifth class students .To verify the aim of the study ,the following Zero hypothesis is stated :"there is no statistical difference at the level (0.05) between the a average degrees for the students of experimental group who studied according to of Knowledge maps and the average degrees of the students of the group who studied a according to ordinary method in the achievement of the biology subject .The study is applied onto sample from scientific fifth class students in Al-Markaziya secondary school which belongs to Al-Diwaniya educational institution which is intentionally chosen to be the field of the experiment .The sample consists of sixty five students .Arbitrarily section B (32 students)is chosen to be the experimental group who studied according to Knowledge maps and section A( 33 students) to be group who studied according to ordinary method .The two groups are equivalent in age ,intelligence ,testing previous information in biology subject .The researcher teaches the two groups after determining the scientific material which includes six chapter (1,2,3,4,5,6)from the (6) chapter are determined to be (342) ,The teaching plans of the two groups are formed and the items of the test are stated according to the six levels of bloom's classification depending on determining the total number of the questions .The final from after extracting psychometric properties includes 50 items ,45 of which are of multiple choice with four choices and 5 items are of an essay kind .The experiment takes two course of the year 2011-2012.after ending the experiment ,the achievement test is applied onto both groups .After correcting student's answers and treating them statistically by using T-Test for two independent ,the results shows the preeminence in the performance of the experiment group over those of the other group in the achievement test .In view of the results ,the researcher concludes that Knowledge maps are effective in the achievement of the scientific fifth class students in the subjects of biology and hence recommending to use Knowledge maps in teaching the subject of biology.
