Abstract EN

This paper aims to assess the extent to which the principle of transparency is embodied in the Algerian public budget, based on the model of the International Open Budget Initiative questionnaire, which was established in 2006.

Participation and accountability.

According to this model, and despite the efforts made by Algeria to create an appropriate environment for the principle of transparency in the public budget, it remained in the category of poor-performing countries-, where the transparency index ranged between two points between (02/100) and (19/100) for the period (2006/2017).

With an average of about (5.5) percent, which reflects the weakness of the transparency of budgetary processes, compared to the global average of (42) percent.

This study explained that most of the budget documents were not available, and the information in those documents was not comprehensive and useful for the different study period 2006-2017.
