تهتم الاستدامة بالأفكار و الاستراتيجيات التي تذهب إلى أبعد من تحقيق النمو و التنمية إذ هي تزيد على ذلك الاهتمام بالبعد البيئي و حقوق الأجيال اللاحقة و كيفية المحافظة عليها، و لكنها تواجه تحديا كبيرا يتمثل بالانخفاض المستمر بالمتوفر من الموارد الطبيعية و الثروات المتزامنة مع الزيادة بعدد السكان، الأمر الذي يتطلب اتخاذ التدابير اللازمة في كيفية المحافظة و تحقيق التوازن بين ما موجود من تلك الموارد و ما تحتاجه عملية النمو من جانب و كيفية المحافظة على حقوق الأجيال اللاحقة من تلك الموارد من جانب آخر، لذلك فقد حددت الاستدامة العديد من المعايير و المبادئ فضلا عن وجود مؤشرات للقياس و إن كل ذلك يأتي من أجل تحقيق التوازن المطلوب
Abstract EN
Sustainability is concerned with ideas and strategies that go beyond growth and development it is more concerned with the environmental dimension and the rights of generations and how to maintain them.
However a major challenge is the continued decline in available natural resources and wealth along with population increase.
This required taking the necessary measure in how to maintain and balance between the existing resources and growth process on the one hard and how to maintain generation rights in those resources on the other.
Therefore sustainability has defined many criteria and principle as well as measurement indicators.
All this comes in order to achieve the required balance
