Abstract EN
This research deals with models of Assyrian censers which are very unique in shape ، made from pottery and are presented in Erbil Museum of.
We found materials that were produced only by an artist and even a small one is a proof of the artistic creativity of man.
The multiplicity of forms، subjects and methods of sculpture has given us a serious desire to have these archaeological materials، which have attracted the attention of researchers in the subject of this research The research is divided into: 1- Censer in cuneiform texts.
2 - History of the censers.
3 - Purification by using censers and incense.
4 - Diffuser of the censers (Dokan area Basosian).
5 - Description of the censers.
This research includes the meaning of the censer in the thought of society by tracing references to it in cuneiform texts، if they are read in the Sumerian language (NIG-NA)، while the Akkadian term (sEHTU) is used on the incense burner and the incense burners are used for religious and ceremonial purposes.
In one of the cuneiform texts there is a reference to the status of one of the incense burner (with the plant Ala===r in front of the god Shamsh) and these censers are placed in certain areas besides the gates of the cities or the gates of the temples with the mention of many cuneiform texts that talk about the incense and the purpose of their use.
The research also deals with the earliest appearance of the censer in archaeological techniques with a complete description of them.
From the era of slaves، the site of Yarm Tabbah (2) ، Khafaji، Ashgali، Nefir، the site of the Dehemia، Shmshara and the Dokan area until the Islamic era we took the site of Akr the first season 2011.
