The law created the Competition Board to regulate competition in the market, and in order to exercise its regulating role, gave it broad powers to suppress practices that restrict competition and which fall within its competence to broadcast them, enjoying independence, which means the power to make decisions and impose the penalty without subordination to any party, but subject to judicial oversight.

This research paper comes to shed light on the limits of the independence of the Competition Board and the effect of that on the effectiveness of its regulating role in the market.
