Social media has become a virtual public area that drives citizens to express their opinions and ideas freely, away from all forms of legal and professional restrictions applied by the rest of traditional media.

Although these sites are positive in the news making process, some of them have been transformed into digital areas of immoral cyber crime as a result of the lack of social responsibility, moral discipline, or professional expression of their ideas and trends, and as a result, dialogue and debate have turned into regional conflicts and racist rhetoric.

Hence we highlight the importance of studying and analyzing the digital ethics of the digital citizen in the virtual public sphere in accordance with the principles of digital citizenship and the ethics of debate and dialogue advocated by the German philosopher Jurgen Habermas.
