Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to explore the role of morphological awareness in the development of word decoding skills among Arabic language second language learners.

Its importance lies in providing solutions to problems of learning reading in general and the decoding of words in particular.

The participants are composed of (80) learners at the first level in primary school, divided into two groups: control group and experimental group.

The experimental group uses the sessions to develop a morphological awareness for (4months), while the control group does not benefit from these sessions.

The word decoding speed for both groups is pre-measured.

After taking advantage of the sessions for the development of morphological awareness, both groups are measured .

The experimental group was found to have a shorter duration compared to the control group
