The aim of this current research was to identify the effectiveness of “Tahawur” strategy, and to prepare a list of writing skills which are necessary for non-native Arabic language learners, and to identify the learners’ abilities in these skills.
To achieve this, a set of tools were prepared which are: a questionnaire identifying necessary skills for non-native Arabic language learners to be able to use the written language codes to fulfil their needs, then a program presented in teaching written expression skills was designed in accordance to the strategy “Tahawur” also a test was designed for nonnative Arabic language learners to determine whether they are be able to use the these skills, after establishing this by utilizing the tools with certainty and its trueness, the researcher surveyed (32) students studying at The Institute of Arabic Language at the Islamic University in Medinah.
The researcher used the descriptive approach and the semi-experimental approach based on one group.
The results obtained a list of the necessary skills of non-native Arabic language learners to be able to use the written language codes to fulfil their needs that emanated (4) main skills that gave rise to (21) sub-skills.
The total number of learners who were able to use the written language codes to fulfil their needs was (%48.06), and this percentage equals the grade of being (weak).
There was a statistically significant difference, between the average levels of learners in the two applications: pre and post in the overall result of the test , which confirms the effective strategy “Tahawur” in developing these skills.
Some recommendations and suggestions were provided
