Abstract EN

The present paper discusses the AK Party Government policy toward Africa.

Thanks to the Ottoman control of the northern and eastern parts of Africa in the 16th to 20th centuries, the AK Party Government built its foreign policy on panoply of relations that span from cultural to diplomatic to economic and even military with the African states.

The Turkish involvement in Africa came as a compensation for the inability to have access to the European Union as a permanent member.

This is considered to be a strategic alternative.
