Abstract EN

The mountains occupied a special place in Amazigh poetry in Algeria due to its close link with social life and the socio-historical conditions experienced by the mountain community, so we find its subjects very rich when speaking of the mountains and the mountain community.

The late artist "Matoub Lounas" is considered one of the symbols of this poetry because of the various values contained in his poetry which are mainly linked to the daily life of the citizen, He attached great importance to the mountains in his poetry, after having analyzed the content of (224) poems from (28) albums recorded in (34) cylinders composed by the poet from 1978 to 1998, it was found that mountains were mentioned at (43) position in (27) poems included (09) poems titled on the mountains.

The sometimes represented it as a symbol of glory, struggle, revolution and history, and at other times he used it as a metaphor for its people and at other times to symbolize customs, traditions, Amazigh language and identity.
