Most punitive legislations strive to find modern ways of punishment that would enable the rehabilitation of criminals in society and avoid traditional methods of punishment, The most recent of these ways is to put under the electronic surveillance system, where the convict remains free with keeping under control by electronic bracelet, without punishment in the penal institution, the Algerian legislator adopted this system by introducing it into the punitive system under the law 01-18, dated 30th Jan2018, and modified in 2018, complementary to the Prisons Regulation Act and social reintegration of prisoners, accordingly, in this study, we will attempt to highlight the electronic monitoring system in this law, and the rulings for its application, while highlighting the legal gaps related thereto.
