The topic of the Arabic dictionary enriching and actualization is one of the issues that linguists have been concerned with since the nineteenth century, despite the appearance of words generated after the era of fluency, some lexicologists were reticent about them under the dominance of the idea of fluency, which led to the emergence of a critical movement in the nineteenth century, whom owners invite to catch up what the ancient dictionaries have missed, and also to initiate the development of modern dictionaries in line with the times, and the first of these initiatives was what Butros al-Bustani's did in his dictionary Muhit al Muhit though this study, we try know the actualization aspects of Arabic dictionary in Butros al-Bustani's through and works, through a comparison between his dictionary Muhit al Muhit and an ancient dictionary he based on for collecting its articles, which is the dictionary al Muhit of al Feiruzabadi, in the purpose of finding the most important actualization processes both in the contents of the dictionary and its language.
