This study aimed to reveal the reality of the practice of participatory leadership among leaders of special education centers in light of the requirements of leadership of change, and identify the challenges that prevent them from practicing them, and the mechanisms for improving them.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive approach was used, and the study community included all leaders of special education centers (boys and girls) in the city of Riyadh, and the study tool was applied to (109) male and female leaders in special education centers.

The research quotation was measured at 11%.

The study reached the following results that the degree of participatory leadership practice among leaders of special education centers in light of the requirements of leadership of change, came with an average degree, with an average arithmetic (2.33), and the study revealed the existence of challenges that prevent the practice of participatory leadership came from the degree of leaders of the centers, Average as a whole, with an average arithmetic value (2.14) The phrase “rigid regulations” came first with an arithmetic mean (2.532).

The phrase “limited training workshops specialized in leading change” came in the second arrangement with an arithmetic mean of (2.450).

The centers collaborate with teachers in defining the center's working mechanisms, and strive to develop the skills of center leaders in anti-change strategies.
