Pausing is one of the common lessons among linguists, grammarians and scholars of readings, it is a phenomenon worthy of attention and study.

The study aims to trace the pausing term linguistically and idiomatically.

The first who use this term among the ancients, and those who took precedence in that, readers, linguists or grammarians.

The study aimed to highlight the importance of this phonemic phenomenon and its effect on speech, as its importance lies with the ancients, when they wanted to taste the sounds to get to know their exits and qualities, especially al-Khalil in his book Al-Ain, which was facilitated for them under Pausing.
