The researcher aims to prove that we shouldn't judge people by their appearance.

Our object of study is the novel entitled "The Stepmother" written by Claude Pujade- Renaud.

In this novel, Eudoxy is obliged to live alone, after the death of her husband, with her stepson "Lucian", the spoiled "child" who is thirty-three years old.

Yet she discovers the good (but hidden) side in Lucian's personality.

He has multiple skills and talents.

He is also a good son.

The paper applies the argumentative method.

It tackles a thesis that describes Lucien as an alienated person.

Then, the papers examine the opposing face and the hidden side of Lucian's personality; in this point, we speak clearly about Lucian's qualities that make him an ideal man.

In the conclusion, the researcher says that we shouldn't judge people by their appearance.

We shouldn't either pay attention to the subjective judgments of others.
