Abstract EN

The current study investigates the language of senses in Ahmed AlDeeb's fictional collection “After Sleeping Tales” from a semiotic perspective as a means of communication between man and his outer world.

The study adopts a semiotic approach because semiotics is the science of signs.

It is mainly concerned with investigating both linguistic and non-linguistic signs.

Since the sensory perceptions are among the non-linguistic signs, the study seeks to analyze them from a semiotic perspective attempting to interpret them and identify their connotative aspects.

The conclusion of the study sums up its findings, the most important of which is: the ability of sensory language to establish a fictional world and create deep connotations due to their interrelation with verbal language.
