Abstract EN

This research aimed at investigating the general characteristic of self assertion on drugs addicts at Hayat Centre for psychological and social rehabilitation, Khartoum Locality.

It also aimed at testing the difference on research population self assertion attributed to age, occupation, academic level and type of drugs.

The researcher used the descriptive methodology.

The research population was inpatients and outpatients at Hayat Centre for Psychological and Social Rehabilitation.

A sample consisted of 102 drugs addicts was selected using the stratified sampling technique.

For data collection, the researcher used Rathus self assertion Scale.

The scale was standardized to the research population and tested for reliability and validity.

The researcher used Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) to analyze data.

The following statistical tests were carried out: Kolmogorov-Smirnov, t-Test for one sample, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation coefficient, Split Halves and Alpha-Cronbach coefficients.

The research reached at the following results: General characteristic of self assertion on drugs addicts at Hayat Centre for Psychological and social rehabilitation, Khartoum Locality was average.

There were no statistically significant differences in attributed t self assertion age, occupation and academic level.

However, there were statistically significant differences in self assertion attributed to type of drugs.

Based on these results, the researcher offered a number of recommendations and suggestions for future research.
