English Abstract

The prominence of celebrations and feasts as research topics emanates mainly from some customs and traditions, that are intriguing to the reader.

The fact that such traditions relate to beliefs that were prevalent during a famous past era that has both historical value and popularity invites researchers to study this field.

This study investigates two Muslim occasions: The Holy Month of Ramadan and Al- Fitr feast due to the spirituality of the habits related to this month which remain popular among Muslims to the present time.

For example, Ramadan lanterns, desserts and cookies baked in Al-Fitr feast remain to be among the most famous forms of celebration in Egypt and the Arab world.

This research traces the origins of some of these forms of celebrations which have been, to some extent, associated with politics due to the dominance of military rule during the era of Mamluk rule.
