English Abstract

Private universities and colleges perform great responsibilities, and their role should not be limited to numbers of human cadres to enter the labor market.

Rather, they should work to stimulate the capabilities inherent in the human being in terms of thinking, innovation, educating people, finding appropriate solutions to society’s problems, and developing the reality of society.

The importance of positive interaction between the private university and society, as the absence of a real interaction between society and the academic institution makes the university and the private college merely an institution aimed at achieving financial profit.

The main problem of the research is the question that how can private universities and colleges contribute to the development of their societies? What are the problems that prevent achieving this goal? What are the means and methods through which there can be a positive interaction between universities and private colleges and their local communities.

The descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, and the research included several axes, as the history of private education, the concept of planning and the roles played by universities in the countries of the world were studied and clarified the most important obstacles and problems facing the work of private universities and colleges in Iraq.
