English Abstract

The present article deals with Abu Othman Amru ben Bahr El Jahidh’sletter ‘Elma’adwa ElMa’ash’ from an argumentative perspective which shows the main arguments that permeate the letter.

The present work starts from a hypothesis that the letter of El Jahidh forms the cornerstone of an ethical project that sets forth the ethics that human beings and the judge in particular have to apply to their everyday lives.

This article concentrates on the ‘authority argument’ for both its prevalence in El Jahidh’s letter and for its persuasive power.
