Abstract EN

Despite the rapid growing importance of public diplomacy, the practices of PD in the Middle East is not yet as active as the Western countries.

After examining the origins of the concept of public diplomacy, the study examines public diplomacy from the practitioner’s perspective.

This study focuses on the practices of the Saudi Embassies' public diplomacy, and the opinion of Saudi diplomats towards such practices.

This study interviews 160 diplomats in order to collect the required data.

The study focuses on two objectives.

First objective is to determine the obstacles facing the implementation of public diplomacy in Saudi Embassies.

Second objective is to learn the importance of public diplomacy for the Saudi diplomats.

The researcher used the interview method to interview 160 Saudi diplomats working abroad to seek their views on the implementation of public diplomacy in Saudi embassies.

The study finds that the Kingdom's embassies abroad are implementing public diplomacy activities.

The study found that the language barrier was the first obstacle to the implementation of public diplomacy.

The study demonstrated that there is a clear deficiency in the use of digital diplomacy and communication with peoples via social media.
