Abstract EN

This research focuses on Jahiliyah’s textual methodology in pre-Islamic poetry in order to figure out its stylistic characteristics.

A close reading of Siniyah as a representative of highly developed poetry in pre-Islam era aims at finding the textual harmony in the poetry of that period, its stylistic characteristics and the major common characteristics in the poetry of that time.

Therefore, the study of Alyashokri’s Siniyah or Liman Al Diyaro Afawna Bel Hapsi is an attempt to track the text’s stylistic characteristics which reflect the dominant text’s harmony in the whole poem through reflections on the text’s stylistic elements in classic poetry.

The study relied on the poetic text’s levels, especially the ones concerned with the stylistic approach.

First is sound structure that reveals the stylistic characteristics through sound repetition.

Second is conjugational structure reflects how the various conjugational shapes of a word may affect the word structure.

Third is compositional structure reflects the same features through a special placement of sentences and phrases.

Fourth is connotative structure that tackles rhetoric relationship such as comparison and metaphor in poems and its effects on them.
