Abstract EN

This study aimed at finding out the degree of the practice of effective communication skills among female heads and coordinators of departments from female staff members’ viewpoints at Northern Border University.

The researcher used the descriptive survey analytical method.

The study sample comprised (222) female staff members from Northern Border University.

To achieve the study objective, a questionnaire has been developed and administered to the study sample.

The questionnaire included (7) fields and (49) items.

The study results showed that female heads of departments and coordinators’ practice of communication skills at Northern Border University is moderate.

Results also revealed that there is a significant difference in the degree of practicing communication skills attributed to nationality, in favor of the Saudi nationality.

Similarly, the results indicated that there is a significant difference in the degree of practicing communication skills attributed to the academic rank between those with professor academic rank from one side and those with the academic ranks of assistant professor and lecturer from the other side in favor of professor rank.

Moreover, results indicated that there is a significant difference in the degree of practicing communication skills between those with associate professor academic rank from one side and those with the academic ranks of associate professor and lecturer on the other side, in favor of those with associate professor academic rank.

Above all, results revealed that there is a significant difference in the degree of practicing communication skills attributed to the faculty, in favor of the humanitarian faculties.

Based on these aforementioned results, the researcher recommends special training for female heads and coordinators of the departments on the effective communication skills
