Abstract EN

The sword is considered one of the manual weapons that a combatant uses in a close engagement, whether in the case of attack or defense, as it is one of the most noble weapons among the people of the world that have used it throughout the different ages and eras.

What Arab and Muslim scholar alike wrote about the ancient concept of the sword is considered very rare due to the paucity of literature, and despite what Al-Kindy mentioned in writing swords and their races of information about ancient swords, their origin, the history of their manufacture and their types in different periods, it is not easy to study swords because most of the exeellent archaeological Arab are scattered in various museums of the world.

Therefore, from this stand point, the research plan was based on three sections preceded by an introduction, followed by a conclusion, a list of sources and references, and a list of annexes.

the research approach dealt with the concept of the sword in language and reform .

whereas the first topic mentioned the origin of the sword and the history of its manufacture in ancient times among the Arab befor Islam ,then btween various types of sword in addition to the sword sections and parts, while the title of the second to pic is the history of the development of the sowrd and the time of its manufacture in the Islamic ages , then the third topic took another dimension through the field study that I conducted for a group of swords found in the AlKafeel Museum of the Abbasid- shrine.
