The ancient Iraqi city is considered one of the greatest civilizational achievements of the Iraqi human mind and the finest innovations of architecture in urban planning for cities throughout history, as civilization activities are concentrated in it to generate all new ideas and inventions after the development of economic, social and religious characteristics that took shape in the emergence of the ancient Iraqi city, materially and morally, to spread this phenomenon And they become the bases for the launch of the original civilization in the development of ancient societies in Iraq and the world because it is a center of civilized radiation through the ages to take societies within them to organize their lives, preserving the wheel of civilization development in cities by creating an organized life and placing each division within its tasks and competence to avoid social anarchy, which thus reflects the delay of societies.

From separating the authorities, including the two powers, religious and political, to be reflected in the plans of urban cities and to define the central nucleus of the ancient Iraqi cities, to follow the patterns of their plans that were characterized by certain characteristics and had a direct impact on their general forms and on the way of exercising their functions that caused their emergence.
