Revelation, on the lexical level, is a sort of hidden transient bond between two parties; one of which is acting and the other is acted upon.

It may be performed either verbally, in writing or gesturing.

The word as a term is prominently known as the transmission of the required knowledge and guidance to the chosen one by Allah (SWT) in an invisible way.

The Revelation differs from the inspiration and disclosure.

The inspiration may occur in the absence of the Angel, whereas the Angel is a requisite for the Revelation, and it is contingent on the conveyance of a message rather than the inspiration.

Categories of the divine Revelation can be summed up as one designated to the prophet hood and Message, the commanding Revelation, gesturing Revelation and predestined Revelation.

As for its mechanism, it basically happens by instilling a direct message into the heart of the prophet, or alternatively Allah (SWT) devices a sound which can be heard through a veil with no mediation of an angel, or that Allah (SWT) sends to his messenger an angel who conveys to him the Lord’s message.
