Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Practicing religious rituals is one of the most important forms of embodiment of cultural identity among members of communities, as it considers an opportunity for members of communities to connect with their cultural and religious roots.
Moreover, religious events would be great opportunities to connect their children from the new generation who grew up in the diaspora with their home culture, as their parents yearn to instill some of the parent community in their cultural identity away from the influence of the dominant culture.
The study employs the ethnographic method to provide a description of one of the most important religious practices that members of the Iraqi Americans community in Michigan are keen to perform, which is the Arbaeen March, which is a foot march performed by a large crowd on a street in the city of Dearborn.
Individuals who participate in the march, as well as the speeches and poems that deliver during that the march, which aims to highlight the higher values upon which the revolution of Imam Hussein was based.
Here, members of the community continue to exploit these practices to highlight the bright face of Islam in the face of the smear campaigns waged by the shadow media.
