أثر سياسات الحوكمة على النمو الاقتصادي : دراسة تحليلية من منظور إقليمي في الدول النامية

Abstract EN

This study seeks to identify the interrelationship between governance and the level of economic growth in developing countries.

The study used indicators of good governance adopted by the World Bank (control of corruption, government effectiveness, political stability and absence of violence, role of law regulatory quality, voice and accountability).

Panel data covering 100 developing countries during the period 2002-2016 were analyzed.

At the first stage of analysis, the model has been applied to the whole sample of developing countries, and the results showed the relative importance of the indicators of government effectiveness, control of corruption, regulatory quality, compared with the indicators of political stability and absence of violence, the role of law, and voice and accountability.

In the second stage, the model was tested on samples of countries representing regional groups— according to World Bank classification.

The results of the second test highlighted the importance of the control of corruption and government effectiveness to economic growth in regional groups of Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asian counties.

While the same test showed the strong link between indictors of voice and accountability and control of corruption are important for the economic growth in Latin American countries.
