Abstract:This study aimed to find the degree of overeducation among Taibah University employees in Madinah.

Specifically, the study used six variables (Gender, academic qualification, method of study, specialization, ranke) to find out if there are any significant differences among respondents.

The descriptive analytical method was used, and the sample study consisted of 189 participants, randomly selected from a population of 1842 employees.

A survey questionnaire consisting of 16 indicators divided in two domains (Functional indicators, self-indicators), was administered to the sample.

Analysis of the data showed that the mean score of overeducation of the sample is 1.85, with medium degree; and that of functional indicators is 2.11, with medium degree.

While the mean score of self-indicators is 1.60, with low degree.

The study revealed that the rates of over-education ranged from 17.5% to 59.8% for functional indicators and 10.1% to 18.5% for the Self-indicators.

It also revealed that there are no differences between responses of the sample based on Self-indicators.

Similarly, there are no differences between respondents based on functional indicators, except for the sex, favoring females; and the scientific qualification, favoring the bachelor’s degree and above.

Based on these findings, it is recommended to promote harmonization efforts between the qualifications of graduates and the requirements of the labor market; ensure compatibility between the labor market and educational policies; and expand the employability market for women.
