Abstract: The aim of this research is to identify the role of charities in social responsibility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It is an analytical descriptive study using the social survey, on a sample of 320 associations and charity organizations in Riyadh.

The study reached a number of results.

The study finds that the methods used by the associations and charitable organizations to communicate with beneficieries are of a medium effect.

It also finds that the role the associations and charity organizations in social development is of high exercise.

As for the strategic role of charity institutions in economic development, it is of a medium effect.

Moreover, the strategic role of charity institutions in preserving the environment is of low effect.

The obstacles to social responsibility are at a high level.

This means that, social responsibility suffers from a number of organizational, administrative and legislative constraints
