Abstract EN

This research is a theoretical study which sheds light on textuality from theoretical perspective.

It attempts to employ the main concepts of textuslity theory on a Quranic text.

the research generally investigates the meaning of text by providing definitions of some linguist, and then it talks about the coherence of the text which is achieved by two factors namely the surface structure and the deep structure.

Concerning the surface namely the surface structure, it is represented in two levels: the grammatical level, which includes referral, replacement, deletion, connection, attribution, correlation.

On the other hand, lexical and semantic level leads to coherence in the superficial textual structure based on the existing relationship between two lexical terms, through two basic parts: repetition and cohesion.

As for the deep structure, it is limited to the pragmatic level and the context.

The main elements of studying texts pragmatically are addressed in this research namely the sender, receiver, the audience, topic, genre, channel, system, the message form, and the purpose.

Surat (Al-Munafiqoon) is chosen as a model for applying the theory of textuality in this study after presenting the theoretical side.
