Abstract EN
The holy city of Karbala is famous for its scientific institutes and religious schools, which played a prominent role in the scientific movement and many scholars attracting students of religious sciences from different parts of the Islamic world to study there.
The Shi'a Muslims of Azerbaijan had a great role in this scientific and cultural achievement.
Al-Padkuba school is one of the most prominent scientific heritages which was founded in 1854 during the Ottoman era and was then destroyed in 1979 by the Baath regime.
This research sheds light on the scientific heritage of this school through its academic practices, and detects the architectural landmarks that were not previously documented as described by contemporary scholars as these landmarks reflect the Islamic and cultural heritage of the holy city of Karbala.
