Karbala is considered one of the most important Islamic cities which has attracted the interest of scholars and writers due to its intellectual and religious heritage.

The researchers were interested in dealing with the progress of the theorists and thinkers whose products emerged over different times in order to identify Karbala's scientific status and intellectual heritage.

Those authors had left a large collection of writings, some of which have been printed and others are still awaiting for investigation and attention.

The city was characterized by many libraries that included that rich heritage, some of which disappeared and some still exist till the present time.

This research sheds light on the most important public and private libraries built in the past centuries by founders who were interested in collecting many manuscripts, publications and documents that represent the city's intellectual heritage.
