Abstract EN

The holy city of Karbala was able to achieve its remarkable heritage because of its great religious status in the hearts of the Iraqis with their denominations, as well as it embraces the graves of the faithful Imams (peace be upon them).

For thousands of years, it has introduced scientists and writers not only locally but also throughout the Muslim world.

This research highlights the status of Karbala and its historical significance during the period between (1359-1390 AH / 1940-1970 AD) which is considered one of the most important historical periods in the history of modern and contemporary Iraq in general and the history of the holy city of Karbala in particular when the country passed two distinct stages; the kingdom and the republic governments.

Despite the significant historical events that took place in Karbala city, it witnessed remarkable activities in all literary and scientific fields.

The holy city has many roles and tasks which reflects its responsibility especially during the twentieth century.

Karbala is one of the Iraqi cities that confronted all those who tried to undermine Iraq and its Arabic identity and heritage and its scientific possession, which took upon itself the establishment of scientific and literary institutes and graduate scientific literary men who had prominent and effective roles in the literary and intellectual renaissance of Iraq.

Karbala is shining like the sun in the sky of Iraq preventing anyone who tries to violate its identity and it has produced a number of figures ins cience and literature who were able to stabilize their determination and scientific and literary achievements to preserve their history and the Arabic language feeding Iraqis with those feelings and The best evidence of this is the ignition of the Great Iraqi Revolution in (1339 AH-1920 AD).
