Abstract EN

The examined view of economic diversification must be within a holistic framework through which to address the most important structural imbalances in the Iraqi economy, namely, the imbalance of GDP structures, commodity exports, the distribution of the labor force, and the varying contribution of the domestic and foreign sectors to activities.

Investment, as well as working to activate the role of the private sector along with the public sector in the management of economic activities, and the uniqueness of a single source in the financing of investment budgets.

This development process must be carried out on conditions set out as a strategy for economic diversification in which the necessary mechanisms are identified to initiate economic diversification at all levels.

This is what this paper sought in the study and analysis of the most important economic indicators adopted in the measurement of diversification, particularly the Hervindal-Hirschmann Index (HH) in order to come up with a realistic assessment of the reality of diversification in the Iraqi economy during the period (2003-2017) as the study found that there was a significant decline in diversification indicators.
