The new city Ali Mendjeli is a functionally independent territory from the mother city Constantine.
This is due to the importance and concentration of the tertiary sector, which has had a great influence on its urban dynamics.
The economic sector of the new town includes simple commercial activities as well as high-end or superior shops.
These latter - the focus of our study - are directly linked to the presence of equipment that has structured business activities in nature, type and hierarchy.
The location of these commercial activities by specifying and showing the peculiarities of each, gave rise to neighborhood units of great importance or enhanced certain units over others.
The new town can be considered a university town according to its university structures as well as a health town with a large number of facilities and activities in the health sector.

La ville nouvelle Ali Mendjeli est un territoire fonctionnellement indépendant de la ville mère Constantine.
Ceci est dû à l’importance et la concentration du secteur tertiaire, qui a eu une grande influence sur sa dynamique urbaine.
Le secteur économique de la ville nouvelle comprend des activités commerciales simples ainsi que des commerces haute gamme ou supérieurs.
Ces derniers –centre d’intérêt de notre étude- sont directement liés à la présence d’équipements qui ont structuré les activités commerciales en nature, type et hiérarchie.
La localisation de ces activités commerciales en précisant et montrant les particularités de chacune, a donné lieu à des unités de voisinage de grande importance ou a mis en valeur certaines unités par rapport aux autres.
La ville nouvelle peut être considérée une ville universitaire selon ce qu’elle possède comme structures universitaires ainsi qu’une ville sanitaire dotée d’un nombre important d’équipements et activités dans le secteur de santé.
