Abstract EN

The field of epistemology; the justification of the knowledge we have of the present and the past along with the nature of credibility and authenticity has proliferated in the last decades (end of the twentieth century - beginning of the twenty-first century).

In relatedness to the epistemological field, the present paper addresses the reading and interpretation of the Arab heritage and its dismantling in the light of the modernist and post-modernist Western approaches, and the revision of its structural and ideological dimensions that monitored its construction, the rationale of this research is based upon one of the most prominent thinkers; a researcher and critic of the Modernist Arab thinking condition, namely, Moḥammad Abed al-Jabiri in his Arab-Islamic Philosophy: A Contemporary Critique (trans.

1999) wherein he argues that the Arab-Islamic mysticism bears a multifold ideological dimension along with political, and social grounds, all of which contribute to its construction culminating in the socalled Sunni Sufism.
