This study discusses the concepts of fragility and fragility status in Africa.

Fragility is widely recognized as the main development challenge, and all major international development agencies (the World Bank, OECD, the African Development Bank and UN Organizations) have published a number of reports on the subject.

A harmonized list of “fragile states” has been set up by them, and it is updated every year.

Indicators of fragility and vulnerability help define the countries considered as fragile.

A new approach to fragility has been defined.

It applies to all countries, and relies on five dimensions: violence; Justice; Accountable and inclusive institutions; economic inclusion and stability; Capacity to adapt to social, economic and environmental shocks and disasters.

State fragility is a major constraint on Africa’s development.

Four out of every five fragile states around the world are found in Africa.

Hence promoting inclusive growth is now a matter of urgency.

This study aims at clarified the impacts of Fragility, she is associated with some of the world's biggest problems: poverty, hunger, malnutrition, disease, displacement, terrorism and crime.
