Abstract EN

Recently, the concept of ‘The Oral Archive’ has attracted theories and opinions and triggered a debatablediscussion in academic scientific meetings and forums.

As term, Oral Archive is interchangeably used with ‘oral testimony’, and ‘oral narration’.

It is widely noted that the concept is a sourceof living and rich in information that needs to be preserved and inheritedto future generations.The importance of oral archives liesin uncovering ambiguity and confusion about some historical events.In addition to that, theconcept is consideredas an alternative model to the written archival documents that have been damaged or lost.

Not to mention that it is used to fill gaps, clarify, and unveil some facts.Based on this importance, the ArchivesCentersand Museums have been the pioneersin the process of defining and highlightingthis type of archives throughthe process of Valorization.

The ‘Valorization of Oral Archives is the critical point in the archive chain, and without it,the balance remains locked into the walls of the archive stores.

However, this process requires various capabilities: material, human, technical and technological.A clear legal framework, consisting of legal legislations and regulations,is important to set the foundationsof a good valorization.

This process aims,in essence, tofacilitate ‘Valorization’, especially with regard to intellectual property rights.

In this context, the crux of this paper is committedto shedding light on this type of archives and introducingthe various traditional and modern tools in the Valorizati process used by the Algerian institutions in charge of oral archives collection.
