The study aims to identify the human influence in changing the landscape of Shatt al-Hilla, and the problems resulting from various activities, as Shatt al-Hilla is an important part of the course of the Euphrates River, with a length of (101 km) in Babel Governorate, and on it is located the city of Hilla (the center of Babel Governorate), Hashemite, and is characterized by its passage through low-slope areas, and highlights the importance of the study in light of the increasing use of various human activities, and the development of a comprehensive study of the type of changes taking place on this vital source within Babil Governorate.

As man affected the amount of sediments in the river and the various activities and his direct and indirect interference in river basins, represented by agriculture, grazing and building cities and dams, as the sculpture system, sedimentation and flow rate were affected.

The field study was relied upon to demonstrate the human influence on the study area
