The exchange rate is affected by many internal and external variables, and it is considered highly sensitive to information.

This study aims to find out how the exchange rate of the Algerian dinar is undeniably affected by new information, especially news and rumors that coincided with the changes in the country's political situation.

In fact, The parallel exchange rate was used through the econometric study instead of the official exchange rate.

this latter is proven by the state to a specific value, therefore it is not affected by supply and demand, thus the effect of dealers' behavior towards the news and rumors that reach them does not appear, to sum up one can say that news, and rumors, in addition to other economic factors (such as oil revenues) had an impact on the recent depreciation of the currency
