Abstract EN

This research paper aims to clarify the concept of sustainable transport, intelligent transport and its systems, and highlight the areas of using of the intelligent transportation systems as a means to support the sustainable transportation tools, especially the wild tools, and focus on achieving the goals of intelligent transportation systems, which are represented in the application of the modern technologies to improve the performance and effectiveness of transport networks.

In order to achieve this, a descriptive and analytical approach was adopted, and a case study approach was used for road transport activities in Algeria.

This study concluded with presenting some applications of intelligent transportation systems which are considred as a solutions to reduce the severity of the sector's problems by developing these systems and spreading them entire the country to promote sustainable transport tools, in order to employ these tools in a comprehensive long-term strategy that works to develop transport in Algeria, and through This strategy the intelligent transportation systems are integrated as a supporting sub-strategy, by preparing a structural map for these systems at the level of the entire national territory.
